See what Somat can do for you!
Somat technology is used by schools, U.S. Navy and cruise ships, and waste treatment plants worldwide.
Is high-volume waste shrinking your profits? Somat gives you room to grow! It's a system designed to reduce food service waste volume by up to 80%, helping lower labor costs, reduce theft, improve sanitation, conserve water and energy, while enhancing the efficiency of workspace.
Waste treatment plant solutions:
The Som-A-SystemŪ is a uniquely practical method of solids dewatering. The self-contained system is simple and efficient, self cleaning, able to operate unattended, and occupies as little as 24 square feet of floor space!
Designed for wastewater treatment plants with sludge flow rates from as low as 300 gallons per hour to as high as 7,200 gallons per hour, the Som-A-SystemŪ includes a polymer conditioning system, one or more Som-A-PressesŪ, a Som-A-TrolŪ electrical control panel, all necessary piping, valves and instrumentation, and an optional sludge feed pump.
In a typical wastewater treatment plant, a Som-A-SystemŪ will dewater from 100 to 2,250 pounds of solids per hour. In terms of hydraulic capacity, this translates into 300 to 7,200 gallons of liquid sludge per hour!
Sludge feed solids from less than 1% to over 8% can be automatically and efficiently dewatered. Thickened sludge can be pumped through existing pipes and equipment. Completely dewatered sludge cake, ranging from 10% to 25% solids, can be discharged directly from the press to a truck, conveyor or haul-away container.
The Som-A-SystemŪ offers a low capital cost alternative to other dewatering methods. That, combined with its low day-to-day expenses, makes it the prime candidate for installation in more than 90% of today's wastewater treatment plants.
Navy and cruise ship waste reduction:
More than 25 years ago, Somat Company worked directly with Naval Sea Systems Command - NAVSEA, headquartered in Washington, D.C., and the Naval R & D Center, Carderock, to
develop the Somat Navy pulpers. Around 1976, the Navy installed our SPC-250S pulpers on several ships, including
the U.S.S. Texas. From this early design work, Somat Company became the recognized leader and innovator for pulping
systems supplied to the U.S. Navy. These are Models SN-3, SN-3S, and SN-5.
Other manufacturers may try to imitate our
Navy pulpers; Only Somat can provide the highest quality pulper, built to withstand the rigorous demands of galley food service waste
seen on today's U.S. Navy and cruise ships.
