Somat Company Announces Acquisition of Red Goat Disposers
Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Oct. 9, 2006--Somat Company of Lancaster announced the completion of an acquisition of Red Goat Disposers of Murfreesboro, TN.
Red Goat Disposers is a manufacturer of heavy duty food waste disposers and controls for the foodservice industry. Its customer base includes hotels, cafeterias, restaurants and healthcare facilities.
Somat Company, the purchaser, engineers and manufactures waste handling systems used throughout the world. The company pioneered systems for pulping and dewatering foodservice wastes in schools, hospitals, casinos, colleges, employee cafeterias, cruise ships and other mass feeding operations.
Somat Company is a member of the Illinois Tool Works Food Equipment Group - ITWFEG. Illinois Tool Works is a publicly held corporation that trades on the New York Stock Exchange (symbol: ITW) with annual sales of approximately $13 billion.
“This acquisition will enable Somat to achieve increased economies of scale and fits perfectly with our growth strategy,” said Lin Sensenig, general manager of Somat. “We plan to keep all Red Goat sales and service channels intact and they will continue to operate as they have in the past. Red Goat assembly activities will collocate with Somat Company manufacturing facilities in Lancaster. This acquisition will greatly benefit both companies and their respective customers,” added Sensenig.
