Somat Announces Acquisition of Master Disposers
LANCASTER, Penn. (March 11, 2008) - Somat Company, engineer and manufacturer of waste handling systems, announced today the acquisition of the net assets of Master Disposers Inc. in Cincinnati.
Master Disposers Inc. has manufactured heavy duty, maintenance friendly commercial food waste garbage disposers since 1960. Its customer base includes hotels, cafeterias, restaurants and healthcare facilities.
"This acquisition of net assets will benefit not only Master Disposers, Inc. and Somat Company, but our customers as well," said Lin Sensenig, general manager of Stero/ Somat. "We will retain the Master Disposers, Inc. product line and sales channels, but the assembly and order intake will be moved to the Somat headquarters in Lancaster, Penn."
In October of 2006, Somat Company acquired Red Goat Disposers of Murfreesboro, Tenn. - a manufacturer of heavy duty food waste disposers and controls for the foodservice industry.
"Our intention is to vigorously support both the Master Disposers and Red Goat Disposers brands independently - each has distinct features, benefits and sales channels," said Lin Sensenig, general manager of Stero/ Somat. "We plan to keep all Master Disposers and Red Goat disposers sales and service channels intact, and they will continue to operate as they have in the past."
Somat Company, part of the ITW Food Equipment Group, which was recently named the 2008 ENERGY STAR Partner or the Year, is a long-standing industry leader
in the development and manufacturing of highly engineered waste equipment. Somat Company introduced the waste pulping concept to the food service industry in the 1950s and has been the industry leader in that niche market ever since.
